KAPWA Gardens uses a vacant lot to create a vibrant gathering space that reflects the spirit of the SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Heritage District. The layout works with social distancing needs to shape a space rich with opportunity to bring the community together and host a variety of cultural events.
Work on the project includes a series of plans to facilitate different arrangements, such as where food trucks or testing tents should go; research and design for several living walls; and bloom sequence calendars to plan out and visualize the year-round changes of the the garden's green life.

Other projects for SOMA Pilipinas included the design of thermoplastic crosswalks along the city's busy Folsom street to help slow traffic and increase visibility and safety for pedestrians while also contributing to the district's colorful character.
