This project emphasizes the community aspect of a library. The concept of a joining community area is portrayed by the joining of two main, sheared volumes by a central, connecting one. Programmatically, this joining volume is most centrally occupied by a flexible community area. From the interior experience of the space, the joining aspect of the community space is emphasized by the visual unity from this area to many of the other areas in the library. The main circulation happens around a central mass which connects the building vertically, emphasizing the more active and flexible focus of the central areas. The stacks line the outer walls throughout the four floors.
